There is no doubt that most of us are pretty tense right now. The whole world is freaking out over the coronavirus and we have no idea how this is going to play out longterm. Everything is closing down and our lives are changing big time!
It's normal to be stressed. If you're not at all, that's awesome. Where can I get some of what you're having?
But here's the thing, with all of this uncertainty swirling around us, we have two options:
1. to fall victim to the chaos or 2. to use this time to our advantage.
I understand that many people have families to take care of and have bigger challenges at hand, but for those of you that are safe and these work at home and social distance policies are more of an annoyance than anything, I have some ideas for you.
At least this is the way I'm going about this whole situation to keep my sanity. There are some things in life we can control, and there are many things that we cannot. The current pandemic and economy turmoil are two things we cannot control. No matter how much we worry, we will not change the situation.
What can you always 100% control? Yourself.
You can control how you spend your time and what perspective you carry. If you focus on what you can control, you could be making great gains during this chaotic and uncertain time. What if you used this temporary shut down as a reset period?
What if this could be that in between time we never see from the 'before' and 'after' pictures? The big transformation. The way I see it is, you are alone, you have way too much time on your hands, and you can't go out to experience the world. Might as well use your extra time to turn inward and level up who you are.
Put down your phone, stop scrolling through the news. Pick up the guitar or start learning that new language you've been wanting to. GET RIPPED. Reinvent yourself to the point where you are unrecognizeable when you return to society.
You have all this time, you can either spend it by watching endless TV and moping around. . . or you can use it to read more self improvement books, journal, exercise, and meditate. One option will leave you depressed while the other will make you empowered.
Which will you choose?
I sure know I am going to use this time to stay away from social media and to focus on myself. That means walking/running every morning, making time for reading, cleaning up my diet, working on my projects, doing my best during the work day, and spending time with family when I can.
Just because we can't be as social as we used to be right now doesn't mean you have to live like a bum. Pick yourself up and utilize this time.
