How To Uncover Your Purpose

Updated: Jun 10

Day 6 of Alex Banayan's Third Door Mentor Sessions went off without a hitch. We discussed How To Uncover Your Purpose. Join us tomorrow to learn more about Extreme Long-term Planning.

You are not alone if trying to find your purpose feels really overwhelming. I remember that exact feeling of pure frustration when I was 20 years old. I had become the role model I wished I had as a teenager and I wanted to do something meaningful, but I had no idea where to start.

I started asking successful people around the world what advice they would give me if I were their daughter. What started as a passion project, three years later has turned into my upcoming book for Gen-Z, If I Were Your Daughter. Through all the highs and lows of this experiment, I am discovering more about my purpose each day. Just as Alex said in today's session, my purpose relates back to my biggest struggles in my youth and now I am creating what I wish I had during that troubling time.

Before continuing you must know that passion and purpose are not interchangeable. Passion is rooted more in enthusiasm and excitement, while purpose is more meaningful and intentional.

The Secret To Finding Your Purpose: Stop trying to find your purpose

Cut yourself some slack. Give yourself time and stop worrying about your purpose. Know that if you follow your enthusiasm, listen to your inner whisper, and have fun, soon enough your purpose will reveal itself.

Your purpose is not something you can brainstorm, it is something that you will discover along your journey. And If your purpose changes, that's okay! Trust that you are exactly where you need to be.

If you are the type of person who likes mind exercises to point you in the right direction, try asking yourself this question: "What have been some of the biggest pains, traumas, and struggles from my youth, and how does that tie into what I'm doing or could be doing today?"

Best Quote

"You don't need your purpose to get going. Once you get going, you will better understand your purpose."

P.S. Stop comparing your behind the scenes to someone else's highlight real. Oh, and it doesn't matter how old you are, as Alex said "If you are alive, you still have time to work on finding your purpose."
