I feel more at ease now that I have accepted this lifestyle as my new normal.
This whole work at home and social distancing situation made me really on edge at first. I didn't enjoy not being able to go into work, see my coworkers, see my friends after work and participate in my usual activities. My new routine made me super anxious. I wanted everything to go back to normal. I didn't feel like I could settle in.
And while I would rather everything go back to the way it was, I understand I cannot focus my energy towards that longing. This is only temporary. There is a lot of uncertainty in how long this will be our reality. I have found that in order to enjoy my daily life, embracing that this is how it's going to be for a while has helped me settle in.
Facing my current reality at face value and figuring out how to make it work for me is the best I can do. I've changed my workout routine, my eating habits, my morning and night routines, and my work day. Everything is different, but I am keeping it consistent day to day so that I can feel comfortable as the days progress.
Instead of complaining about the current situation and stressing about how long this will be like this, try accepting it for what it is and making the best out of it. Of course, easier said than done. But this strategy has brought back a lot of joy into my life in the past few days and I hope it can help you too.
Wishing you a safe and healthy few months.
